Job Description of DNV Senior Consultant, Energy Markets

Local Unit & Position Description:DNV is seeking a highly motivated Senior Consultant with experience in developing decarbonization strategies and roadmaps. The role is within the Energy Markets and Transactions team covering Southern Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America; the role is based in Dubai UAE. The successful candidate will have keen interest in how new technologies translate into policies to facilitate the energy transition.

The role may require international travel.

Position Qualifications:Qualified consultants will have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, business or finance from an accredited university
  • Experience in environmental topics and CO2 reduction calculation methodologies
  • Understanding of the wider decarbonatization arena e.g. hydrogen, CCS, renewables, ESG, energy efficiency, climate change
  • Experience of working with multi-lateral finance and inter-governmental organizations
  • Consulting background
  • Strategic mindset coupled with understanding of policy/regulatory frameworks
  • Broad understanding of the energy – oil & gas nexus
  • Technical acumen and analytical mindset
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills
  • Proactive and forthcoming attitude
  • Fluency in English. Arabic would be an advantage.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing decarbonization strategies and roadmaps, including policy, procedures and monitoring
  • Conducting thermal power generation analysis (desirable)
  • Developing CO2 reduction methodologies (e.g.emissions repository, CO2 forecast models)
  • Building new business models in emerging markets, to enable local energy transition frameworks
  • Good track record of leading, writing and winning proposals is an advantage
  • Managing relationships with key external and internal clients
  • Supporting team engagement through attending related conferences and focus groups
